TiAnViCa is offering NARHA Horses for Heroes, a program that partners with horses and veterans and their families.
The goal of this program is to improves the lives of service men and women who have suffered injury in the line of duty, helping them and their families to adjust physically and emotionally to their post-service lives - giving them a chance to smile, laugh and enjoy the bond between horse and human. How Does This Program Work? Benefits: The dynamic movement of the horse simulates normal human walking. This works as a biofeedback mechanism by retraining the motor and cognitive systems for improved function, resulting in improved balance, motor skills, and speech as well as the fellowship and connection with the horse and veteran. Participation in outdoor activities with a horse can also help improve morale and well being. Veteran Participation: Our program is also looking for veterans to volunteer in the program. Veterans supporting soldiers with injuries provide a healing environment for all involved. Family Time: When a soldier comes home and is injured, there may be a time of readjustment for the entire family. TiAnViCa will help the family adjust by opening the program to the soldiers family so they can have fun together and have a time to laugh and be together in a family friendly, supportive setting. How To Get involved Soldiers: If you have sustained an injury or have a loved one that has sustained an injury in military service who you believe would benefit from this service, you can contact TiAnViCa for an application or e-mail us at heros@tianvica.org for an application. Fill out the application and have it signed by a physician and turn it into TiAnViCa. Funding: TiAnViCa is currently offering this program free of charge to all veterans. We have a limited amount of riding times available for the program as we seek additional funding. Requirements For Soldiers Receiving Services: Military related disability, application, physician approval, and evaluation by TiAnViCa staff. Once accepted, individuals will be placed into the program as time slots become available. Volunteers: Veterans are recruited for providing sidewalking, horse handling and moral support. The benefits of soldiers helping soldiers is for both the soldier and the veteran in supporting the military philosophy of “no soldier left behind.”
